Chop Wood, Carry Ohio 8/8 🚜
Hey, Ohio champs!
A couple of quick things:
First, the New Yorker just published an article about the critical importance of state legislatures. It focusses on Ohio, and it’s deeply disturbing. I hope you’ll check it out. The TLDR: give money or time to flipping state legislature seats—especially in Ohio! It’ll help Dems up and down the ballot, and it’ll help save democracy!
(Once you read it and you’re seething with anger please consider becoming a monthly donor to Blue Ohio. They’re mentioned in the article. Your money will be well spent. And if you give $10 or more a month you can go to David Pepper’s once-monthly “Brown Bag Lunches,” which are amazing.)
Second, I have an easy and cool volunteer opportunity to help us win in Ohio: the folks at Working America are sending letters to working class people in key states about kitchen-table issues such as health care, affordable housing, and worker pay. OH is one of their target states!
“Over years of testing, these letters have proven effective at changing the way working people think about their civic engagement, and even who they ultimately vote for, by raising the salience of issues that labor-endorsed candidates win on,” says Working America. You can sign up to write letters for Ohio here — please do!
OK, more soon, folks. Thanks for all you’re doing!
